Saturday, June 16, 2007

This spring, Mike has started doing some mowing with his new lawn tractor, so the place looks quite nice. He cut some old bushes down and undercut some of the trees already here. Now he has 7 cord of wood adorning the front yard to be cut, split, piled and put in this fall to keep us cozy.

A QuickTrip to Ontario

Here are a few pictures from our whirlwind trip to Ottawa/Sudbury in May. We stayed with Sherry and George for three nights and attempted to have a trip in their new boat, but to no avail...it decided to not work that day.
While in Sudbury, we stayed with Mike's sister Donna and her better half, Connie (Contrand). The tall guy is their son, Matthew. He is 19 and going to Confederation College in Thunder Bay.
The fellow in the Blue jacket is Mike's brother Edwin (Eddie). The girl in the double photo (that I can't figure out how to delete) is Joan's daughter, Stephanie. If you are wondering why we are wearing crosses, the funeral home gave them to us to identify us as the immediate family of Dale.

DAD: THE LAST 10 YEARS

Ten years ago Dad was baptized by his pastor and friend Jeff Crabtree.
Not long afterward he got his certificates for reading the New Testament and the Old Testament. He was an avid reader.
In 2002, he and Mum celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends at Sherry and George's home in Oromocto. Here they are with Jeff and Donna Crabtree.
This last picture is the last one Mike took of Dad this Christmas with Mum, Paul and me.

The Dickinson Family-6 generations

The first picture here is Dad's Grammie Quick, his paternal grandmother who lived in their home the final years of her life. The next picture is of his parents and the other one is his family in 1967. The one with Judy and Bonnie (me) was taken on Father' Day 1960 and the one with Sherry was on his birthday in 1965, I think. The newer family pictures were with my family with Mike, Paul(birthday boy) and Sarah and Sherry's family-Cody, Jannelle and Shelby. The newest members of the family are his great-granddaughters Helena and Isabelle. The large family picture was taken in 2002 at Mom and
Dad's 50th wedding anniversary.

Wedding June 25,1952

Dad and Mum were married in Meductic N.B. Standing with them are his brother-in-law Blair Smith and his friend Paul Graham, who,by the way, was instrumental in getting them together for their first date.

Claude Dickinson in the 40's nd 50's

Dad and Mum began dating in the early 50's and were married in June 1952. These pictures were taken at Temple andPokiok Falls which no longer exists since the Mactaquac Dam was built in the 60's. The first picture was taken at Mum's sister Shirley's wedding. Dad's grandchildren all seem to like the picture of Dad alone and there were various opinions as to which movie star he resembled!

Images of Dad's Childhood

Here are a few pictures of my father's chilhood with his sister Freda, mother Gladys and father Ray. they were taken in the 1930's while living in Marne, New Brunswick on a farm.

Auction Fever\

Saturday morning we went out to an auction in Hillsborough and came home with a couple of nice pieces. The mirror, that I got for $30 is old and really heavy. It is in perfect condition. the Gateleg table has a few minor scratches, but Mum says that it is probably 80 years old and is solid wood.

Thursday Morning

This will be my last full day in Calgary, so I thought I'd better get a picture of Nana and the girls. Yesterday we went to Sears and got a baby swing for Isabelle.
Evening is Movie Time and this is the scene in the living-room each night. Today we hope to do some downtown touring and possibly a trip to Spruce Meadows.

Saturday

Today we went off to the Farmers' Market. As you can see, the weather was warm enough to go jacket-free. Take note of this wine...Weingut Joh.Haart Piesporter Goldtropfchen Reisling. Sarah says it is the best she has ever tasted, and " worth getting drunk on" it was so tasty. Good thing she had to share it with us!
After supper, we made Johnnie endure the movie "Selena".....retribution for making us watch all the "Rocky" movies he could find.
